Alan Lightman's line in "Einstein's Dreams" dated 15 May, 1905 has been reeling in my thoughts for three days after reading it. I tried to put off the thought of a world with no time, but as a person who never seems to have enough of it, and at times, has a photographic memory, I have been left completely intrigued by it's thought.
How would my world appear without time and only images? One word, balanced. Work would get done when it does without procrastination, and the beauty of the overlooked would be admired. I firmly believe that the small things would not be sweated, and the world around me would be appreciated. The arousal of my senses would also become heightened just as the descriptions in the piece by Lightman.
He pieced together intricate details of random life occurrences, and painted a mosaic of life without time. I appreciate this piece for providing me a moment of escape and also a reminder to stop, slow down and take in life's images before my time runs out.
